Terms of Service

Please read the following before you commission anything.

With any commission, you agree to the following Terms of Service.

And yes, that means even if you didn't read them.

Status Ferret’s Terms of Service

Denial of Commission

Status Ferret reserves the right to deny a commission for any reason. Should Status Ferret deny the commission after a payment is made, buyer is entitled to a full refund.

Payments

Payment of agreed upon price is due at time of commission. No work will be started until payment is received. All payments must be completed digitally. As the buyer, you reserve the right to a receipt upon request.

Cancellations and Refunds

Should you want to cancel your commission for any reason, the buyer is entitled to a full refund within 7 days of payment. Should you need to cancel past the 7 day grace period, refunds will be determined on a case by case basis. Refunds cannot be issued after recording has begun. Should you need to cancel after work has commenced but before any recording has begun, Status Ferret reserves the right to use the current product however he sees fit and without credit to the original commissioner (within reason).

Status Ferret reserves the right to cancel the commission at any time and for any reason without notification. Should this occur, buyer is entitled to a full refund for the commission. Should this occur after work has commenced, all work will be scrapped and will not be used for any purpose by Status Ferret or buyer.

Time Frame

Delivery of finished product is to be done in a reasonable time frame. Buyer is aware that this time frame can be anywhere between 2 weeks to 6 months, depending on the situation. Should this song have a specific due date, this needs to be specified before the commission is paid for.

If the buyer is dissatisfied with the time frame of the commission before the final product is delivered, they are entitled to a cancellation and partial refund, but understands that they will not receive any part of the product, and Status Ferret owns full rights to the current commission.

Style and Artistic Liberties

By commissioning Status Ferret, you acknowledge that I have my own style and process to my content, and consent to having your commission done in my style. You agree to not ask for my content to sound similar to another artist’s content (i.e. “make this song sound like an Elton John song”). This does not apply to asking for a general vibe of a song to be a certain way (i.e. I want this song to be just acoustic guitar, I want this song to be a happy song, etc.) Buyer acknowledges that Status Ferret will be creating the song from scratch and reserves the right to deny any pre-written parts of the song, including lyrics.

Changes/Altercations

Status Ferret reserves the right to deny altercations to topics after work has commenced. Minor changes such as a few lines of lyrics or additional instruments are considered a part of the writing process and can be made before the final product is published and delivered. Once the final product is delivered, no changes can be made.

Media Usage

Once the finished product has been delivered, buyer is free to use the product for any purpose, so long as proper credit is given to Status Ferret. As the buyer, you are entitled to a statement in writing upon request saying that you may use the song in any way that you please free of royalty, licensing, or any further copyright fees. Commissions remain intellectual property of Status Ferret after delivery.

Status Ferret reserves the right to use the finished product for promotional purposes such as publishing on Spotify or other streaming websites, as well as reservation of performance rights.

Buyer has the right to opt out of publication on albums and streaming services at time of commission. Once the product has been published on an album and/or streaming services, you acknowledge that this cannot be undone. Agreeing to having the commission published on an album and/or streaming services does not guarantee that it will be, and Status Ferret reserves the right to deny publishing it on these terms.

Dissatisfied with Finished Product

Refunds will be determined on a case by case basis for buyers dissatisfied with their finished product. If the issue lies with not following the guidelines of the initial commission form, buyer is entitled to reasonable changes made to the song (i.e. needs a few lyrics altered to follow more closely into topic).

Minor Policy

Status Ferret legally cannot accept commissions from anyone under the age of 18 years old. No exceptions.
